\nThe winter opening was a great success and it was a pleasure to catch up with so many old friends and to welcome new ones.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

We are looking forward to the new season at the gallery and to seeing the various projects we have been busy with coming to fruition.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nWeekend Courses<\/span><\/p>\n

From Table to Easel<\/a><\/span><\/strong>
\n1 – 3 April<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/em><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning with an introductory talk on the Friday evening we shall eat and create together through the weekend inspired by the twin pleasures of making art and eating good food. Meals will be inspired by work (and favourite recipes) of such artists as Monet, C\u00e9zanne and Toulouse-Lautrec. (only two places still available)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Weekend with Rembrandt and Vincent<\/a><\/span><\/strong>
\n <\/strong>15 – 17 April<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em>Celebrate the lives and working methods of these two intensely human artists. The weekend will give an opportunity to develop our creativity and ways of communicating feeling and expression through drawing and painting. Van Gogh worshipped Rembrandt saying that he would happily live for ten years on bread and water if he could do so in front of Rembrandt\u2019s magnificent, Jewish Bride.<\/p>\n

A Date with Degas<\/a><\/span><\/strong>
\n <\/strong>14 \u2013 16 October<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em>Be inspired by the life, work and methods of Degas, the most innovative and radical of the Impressionists. Discover the secrets of his painting and printing techniques and experiment with his unique way of modelling in wax.<\/p>\n

\n\"\"<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Ghislaine has just begun an exciting three year association with York Minster that will result in a series of major exhibitions at there, culminating in 2013 with a new series of paintings to mark the 1700th anniversary of The Edict of Milan. The Minster is planning for this year to be dedicated to the issues of reconciliation, tolerance and forgiveness and Ghislaine\u2019s work will be at the heart of their events.<\/span><\/p>\n

Easter 2011 from 9th March \u20132nd May<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nGhislaine\u2019s 14 Stations of the Cross \/ The Captive Figure are on show in the nave of the Minster and The Empty Tomb is on view in the crypt. A small painting of Judas: the Departure will be placed in a secret location (known only to someone within the Minster)<\/p>\n

Easter 2012<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nA selection of Ghislaine\u2019s daily paintings will be exhibited at the Minster together with a projection piece.<\/p>\n

Easter 2013<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nGhislaine will be exhibiting an entirely new series of works inspired by her daily news paintings. These will be large scale secular works each of which will counterpoint one of the original Stations images. Each painting will be developed from the bank of small paintings that she produces on a daily basis. The painting of Judas will be re-instated within the main body of the Minster.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is hoped that the original Stations will be exhibited in Milan cathedral during the Lenten weeks of 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Choreography of Walking<\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nGhislaine\u2019s exhibition based on her work at Salford Podiatry department will take place at the University of Salford\u2019s Chapman Gallery 29th March \u2013 30th April.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Private View will take place on 29th between 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm \u2013 please come along!<\/p>\n

Michael Howard<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Michael is preparing for his Australian lecture tour that take place over the summer and for an exhibition of his etchings, paintings and ceramics at the Cathedral Centre in Derby, opening September this year.<\/p>\n

Cordelia Howard<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nCordelia is in the final year of her drama degree course at Kingston University. As well as acting and directing, performing with her band, Nighthawks at the Diner, she has continued to record her life in her postcard water-colour sketches. Images of these together with her paintings and ceramic work may be found on her facebook page.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ian Mood<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nFollowing the success of their landscape work in last year\u2019s winter exhibition, Ian and Ghislaine are working on a common theme for the Derbyshire Open Studio event<\/span><\/p>\n

Tracy Cupitt<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nTracy and Michael are preparing a one day workshop event on Van Gogh and Japan; celebrating the artist\u2019s passionate engagement with all things Japanese. (Date to be decided)<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Spring Bank Holiday 28th, 29th, 30th May 2011<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>Derbyshire Open Studio event<\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nThis is now a well-established county-wide event. Ghislaine\u2019s studio and the gallery will be open though the weekend from 11.00am-5.00pm and there will be an opportunity to see new work by Ghislaine, Michael, Cordelia, Ian and Tracy. There will be informal talks and studio demonstrations as well as coffee, tea and cake.<\/span><\/p>\n
